Vigeland's Frieze, The Cycle of Life Reliefs.

(Seen as small squares at the base of the fountain) The motifs of the reliefs correspond to the tree groups and form a continuous frieze of images depicting Life, from the beginning to the end. I like these images very much, when visiting the fountain the reliefs can easily be missed or over looked by the greatness of the fountain and the sculptures that surround it, emphasised by the Monolith and imposing granite statues in one direction and the bridge statues in the other. These reliefs then to me are like snapshot sketches that capture precious moments in time. They explore relationships, emotions and change following Life's great path.
