Troll Illustrations by Rolf Lidberg.

From the book TROLL, The original book of Norwegian Trolls by Jan Loof.

Father Troll has had enough,
he wraps himself up in a blanket, goes to sleep and waits for spring to arrive.
Now that Spring has arrived Father Troll feels young again.
Summer has arrived!
Calypso Bulbosaor, The winter flower.
When they appear, the winter will be a long and very cold one.
Picking cotton grass to make cloth to keep warm in the winter
Clothes are not enough to survive a dark and cold winter - they need lots of food too.
(Dried fish will keep them going)
Good Night Morton
Summer passed quickly to Autumn when there are plenty of berries and mushrooms to eat.
What happens to the animals when it gets cold? Some get winter fur, some sleep and birds fly away. Look over there at the bog, the Elves are dancing.
Cleaning the boat before winter.
Troll children playing marbles.
Skating!
Fishing through a hole in the lake.
Getting enough to eat to grow big and strong.
Rice pudding to celebrate the end of the year.
Looking at the stars and waving goodbye to Winter.

  1. ROLF LIDBERG NELLE SUE ILLUSTRAZIONI DIPINGEVA I TROLLS CON 5 DITA PER MANO, MENTRE INVECE LA TRADIZIONE NORVEGESE VUOLE CHE I TROLLS ABBIANO 4 DITA PER MANO.
COME SI SPIEGA LA SCELTA DI LIDBERG?

  2. Hi!
I have a large collection of Rolf Lidberg card from my father that I intend to sell to someone who knows how to make a reasonable valuation. The collection is very extensive and there are duplicates.

If you are interested please contact me and I'll send a list to explain the scope. I can also sell specific cards that you might be interested in.

  3. Sweden, actually. The artist is (or was - he is dead now) a swedish man and he made children's picture books, paintings, postcards and things like that. One of my favourite illustrators of all time.

  4. I won a packet of Rolf illustrated greeting cards. They appear very old, came in an illustrated cardboard case. So cute! I'm just googling to find out more. The front of the packet container has Goodnight Morton and the back has Gathering Cotton for Winter. (or so it seems from the quick search, I'm doing. I thought about using these but now I'm not sure if I should.
